First Day Responsibilities Children to be received from the buses by designated helpers and escorted safely to their classrooms. Ensure that students, especially new entrants, are comforted and helped settle into the classroom environment. Assemble students in class and assist them during breakfast, lunch, snack time, and dispersal. Conduct introductions and provide orientation for new students. Assign roll numbers to all students and verify the accuracy of spellings, initials, and ID numbers recorded in the attendance register. Mark daily attendance in the ICMS system. Ensure that all student belongings (bags, bottles, books, etc.) are properly labelled. Attach the Day 1 circular in the student diary and follow up on required information such as completed information sheets, spare dress, passport-size photograph, and pending uniforms. Begin collecting essential student information including food preferences, language choices, allergies, bus routes, and sibling details. The compiled list should be displayed on the teacher’s board within two days. Daily Responsibilities Attendance: Mark attendance in the class register and update the online attendance through ICMS before 9:30 a.m. without fail. Class Whiteboard Update: Update the class whiteboard daily with the date, day, motivational quote, student strength, agenda for the day, and homework notifications. Classroom Maintenance: Ensure that class cupboards and display boards are neat, organised, and updated regularly. Student Identification: Regularly check that all students are wearing their ID cards. Workstation Management: Ensure the workstation and classroom are cleared and organised before the commencement of the next class. (Strictly to be followed) Student Grooming: Conduct a daily check of student uniforms and oral hygiene. Diary Communication: Acknowledge diary notes and communicate any necessary information to parents through the student diary. Classroom Property Care: Ensure the safety and proper use of classroom property. Students should not scratch or write on tables, chairs, or walls. Anecdotal Records: Maintain anecdotal records of student observations and progress. Fee Collection Records: Any cheques or cash received should be recorded and submitted to the PYP Head. Activity Updates: Share updates of class activities or field trips for Facebook/social media as and when they occur. Parent Communication: Respond promptly to parent queries received through diaries. All notes or concerns, including medication requests or homework extension requests, must be recorded in ICMS. Student Movement: Ensure students line up in an orderly manner whenever they move out of the classroom to maintain discipline. (Strictly to be followed by all PYP teachers) Dispersal Procedure: During dispersal, students should line up route-wise at 2:55 p.m. before the hooter. Dispersal will take place grade-wise from KG to Grade 5 as per the new classroom arrangements. Classroom Arrangement: Ensure all classroom furniture is properly arranged by students and teachers before leaving the classroom. (Strictly to be followed) Washroom Monitoring: Only one student at a time should be allowed to go to the washroom. Teachers must monitor this strictly. School Updates: Teachers are required to check the school website at least once daily for updates and important announcements. Weekly Responsibilities Submit the Weekly Planner to the Coordinator in a timely manner. Ensure that all resources required for the inquiry unit are prepared and ready before the start of the following week. Prepare library books and science unit books that need to be sent home with students. Plan and assign appropriate home tasks for the week. Organise cooking activity ingredients in advance and communicate requirements to parents through a diary note. Prepare and maintain the agenda for the collaborative grade-level meeting every Wednesday. Conduct regular checks on students’ personal hygiene and spare dress availability. Grade Leads to update the Minutes of Meeting (MOM) in the common storage after each meeting. Grade Leads must share the meeting agenda with the Coordinator prior to the meeting. Ensure that library books are sent home every Friday as scheduled. Monthly Responsibilities Submit the completed attendance register to the Coordinator on the last working day of every month without fail. Provide the monthly update to the Coordinator on the last Monday of each month. Complete Boxes 6, 7, 8, and 9 of the planner at the end of each inquiry unit, following discussion and collaboration among all sections. Ensure that the evidence file and e-portfolio are updated and completed within one week of the completion of the inquiry unit. General Instructions for Homeroom Teachers – KG Maintain a positive classroom environment and discipline at all times. Encourage and train children to greet all staff members politely (e.g., Good Morning / Good Afternoon ) while moving through corridors, dining areas, and other spaces on campus. Personal hygiene must be checked daily (hair, nails, uniform, shoes, etc.). Encourage students to communicate in English within the classroom and school environment. Begin each day with a two-minute discussion on a moral value, and write a moral quote on the whiteboard daily. Keep the Coordinator informed of any concerns related to academics, students, or parent communication. Homeroom Teachers – KG Soft Board Checklist Annual Board: Displaying Attitudes, Skills, Learner Profile, Concepts, and Themes (Mandatory) Inquiry Cycle Board Teacher’s Corner: Including relevant class information such as timetable, student details, contact numbers, bus routes, food preferences (veg/non-veg), ID numbers, badge holder names, multiple intelligences, and De Bono’s Thinking Hats. Phonics Corner Art Corner Child Essential Agreements Language Board (Hindi/Tamil) Word Wall Pod Area Boards (Outside the Classroom): To be updated regularly with students’ work or highlights from interschool visits. These boards should be maintained collectively by all homeroom teachers, with Grade Leads overseeing overall responsibility. Instructions for Designing Display Boards Use innovative and creative presentation ideas aligned with the theme or central idea of the unit. Ensure accurate spelling in all displayed content. Maintain clear and well-defined borders for all boards. Present creative and visually appealing displays. Showcase students’ explanations, ideas, and observable learning behaviours wherever possible. Ensure boards are neat, uncluttered, readable, and well organised.
