Educational Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Music, Performing Arts, or a related field from a recognized university. Master’s Degree (MA) in Music, Performing Arts, or a related discipline is preferred. Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or an equivalent teaching qualification is desirable. Prior experience in teaching music or performing arts in a school setting is advantageous; the candidate need not necessarily be a professional performing singer. Roles and Responsibilities 1. Curriculum Planning and Development Design and implement a structured vocal music curriculum suitable for different age groups (KG to Primary/Middle School). Prepare age-appropriate lesson plans with clearly defined learning objectives and outcomes. Integrate basic music theory (swaras, rhythm, pitch control, breathing techniques) with practical singing activities. Plan term-wise progression, ensuring gradual skill development and performance readiness. 2. Teaching and Instruction Deliver clear and engaging vocal instruction suited to varying student learning levels. Teach songs in multiple languages such as English, Tamil, Hindi, or others as required. Guide students on correct posture, breathing techniques, voice modulation, and pronunciation. Encourage active participation and cultivate students’ interest and confidence in singing. 3. Assessment and Evaluation Develop and implement formative and summative assessment methods to evaluate student progress. Use rubrics aligned with skill development and the school’s IB framework where applicable. Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress with parents when required. Maintain accurate records of student development and performance growth. 4. Performance Preparation Prepare students for school events and performances, including Arts Fest, inter-school competitions, Annual Day, and choir presentations. Conduct structured rehearsals to build stage confidence and performance quality. Possess basic skills in simple choreography and music editing to support performances when required. 5. Classroom and Student Management Demonstrate effective classroom management while maintaining a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Promote discipline through positive reinforcement. Foster teamwork, creativity, and stage presence among students. Ensure student safety and well-being during rehearsals and practice sessions. 6. Professional Responsibilities Collaborate with the Performing Arts department and school event coordinators for performances and cultural activities. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development programmes. Ensure responsible use and maintenance of musical instruments and audio equipment. Stay updated with current teaching methodologies and vocal training techniques. Encourage musical appreciation, creativity, and artistic expression among students.
