Special Education Teacher

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Special Education or equivalent from a recognized institution

Valid teaching license and RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) registration preferred

Minimum 2 years of experience working as a special educator in a school setting

Experience in planning and delivering IEPs (Individualized Education Plans)

Familiarity with inclusive classroom models and differentiation strategies

Essential Skills

Strong understanding of various learning disabilities and developmental disorders

Excellent classroom management and behaviour intervention skills

Skilled in curriculum adaptation and individualized instruction

Ability to create inclusive and differentiated lesson plans

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to maintain accurate documentation and reports

Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

Contribution to School Inclusion Initiatives: Actively contribute to school-wide inclusion programmes, awareness initiatives, and events that promote diversity, equity, and acceptance.

Inclusive Classroom Teaching: Plan and lead full-class instruction using differentiated methods to address diverse learner needs while maintaining academic rigor.

Advocacy and Inclusion: Promote a culture of inclusion, empathy, and respect. Support the integration of students with special needs into all aspects of school life.

Individualized Planning and Instruction: Adapt curriculum content, teaching strategies, and assessment methods to accommodate varied learning styles, abilities, and needs, including modifications and accommodations as outlined in IEPs.

Social-Emotional Support: Support students’ emotional well-being and social development through structured interventions, counselling support, and social skills programmes.

Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Maintain detailed records and progress reports.

Transition Planning: Assist students in transitions between grades, programmes, or learning environments by planning appropriate academic and emotional support strategies.

Classroom Management: Foster a structured and positive learning environment using proactive behaviour strategies. Implement behaviour intervention plans (BIPs) as required.

Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with general educators, therapists, parents, and counsellors to support student learning. Participate in parent meetings, case reviews, and team planning.

Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all documentation related to IEPs, assessments, accommodations, and interventions is maintained accurately and in compliance with school policies and regulatory requirements.

Parent Communication: Maintain regular, constructive communication with parents regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for reinforcement at home.

Safeguarding and Student Welfare: Ensure student safety and well-being by adhering to safeguarding policies and promptly reporting concerns related to student welfare.

Professional Development: Participate in regular training and workshops to stay updated on best practices in special education, inclusive pedagogy, and classroom technology.

Reflection and Continuous Improvement: Engage in reflective teaching practices to evaluate effectiveness and continuously improve instructional strategies to better support student learning
