Roles and Responsibilities of an IBDP Facilitator Generic Expectations As an IBDP facilitator at The Indian Public School (TIPS), you are entrusted with shaping young minds in alignment with the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The following expectations define the professional standards required: Educate and guide students placed under your care with commitment, integrity, and professionalism. Foster a warm, respectful, and intellectually stimulating learning environment. Mentor and nurture students for their holistic development — academic, emotional, social, and ethical. Adhere strictly to school policies, IB standards, and institutional protocols. Serve as a role model by demonstrating high academic standards, ethical conduct, and professional behaviour. Maintain punctuality, dedication, and accountability in all assigned responsibilities. Demonstrate open-mindedness and sensitivity toward cultural differences in line with the IB learner profile. Respect and celebrate workforce diversity while contributing positively to a harmonious work culture. Practice empathy towards students and colleagues, recognizing yourself as an integral member of the TIPS community. Provide honest, constructive, and timely feedback to parents during Parent-Teacher Meetings, in consultation with the Diploma Programme Coordinator (DPC). Refrain from any direct communication with parents for personal gains. All academic, behavioural, or disciplinary concerns must be communicated through the DPC. Inform the DPC regarding planned leave, emergencies, or student-related concerns, while keeping the respective HOD informed. Ensure syllabus continuity by arranging class swaps in advance during planned leave. Attend all meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and professional development programmes. Record attendance accurately and use the biometric system during entry and exit on campus. Academic Expectations Subject-Specific Responsibilities Deliver the curriculum in alignment with IB standards, practices, and assessment objectives. Facilitate learning with subject expertise while remaining approachable and supportive. Use varied pedagogical strategies — lectures, presentations, collaborative learning, experiential tasks, research-based inquiry, and technology integration. Maintain effective classroom management that builds mutual respect. Promote discipline and guide students in responsible social behaviour, particularly within the teenage context. Develop subject confidence and critical thinking skills among students. Guide students in research work, Internal Assessments (IA), and Extended Essays (EE), ensuring adherence to academic integrity. Provide consistent and meaningful feedback on assessments. Ensure academic timelines and syllabus completion targets are met. Design formative (FA) and summative (SA) assessments with clear rubrics and mark schemes aligned with IB criteria. Discuss assessed work with students, explaining marking criteria to promote transparency and reflection. Additional Responsibilities As a Class Teacher: Ensure accurate attendance marking and timely data entry. Monitor student well-being and overall progress. As an Invigilator: Ensure smooth and fair conduct of examinations. Prevent malpractice and uphold the school’s Academic Honesty Policy. As an House Mentor: Guide and encourage students in co-curricular and competitive activities. Foster teamwork, leadership, and school spirit. Supervise and ensure discipline during assemblies, expert talks, field trips, school trips, CAS activities, and in-house programmes. As a CAS Advisor: Guide students in planning, executing, and reflecting on their CAS experiences. Ensure meaningful engagement aligned with IB expectations. Documentation Responsibilities A. Under the Guidance of the HOD Prepare Schemes of Work and Unit Plans reflecting IB course expectations, including ATL skills, CAS connections, and TOK integration. Collaborate in developing improved teaching and learning strategies. Identify topic-specific requirements and create appropriate textual and visual learning resources. Maintain documented evidence of all activities mentioned in Unit Plans (photographs, student reflections, feedback forms, etc.), organized date-wise. Maintain accurate records of all formative and summative assessments. Provide performance updates to the respective HOD. B. Under the Guidance of the DPC Submit monthly updates on syllabus completion, IA progress, and EE supervision. Maintain and submit documentation required for the 5-year IB evaluation process as per IB standards. Maintain records of supervisory responsibilities. Document EE guidance sessions through reflection forms and supervisory notes.
