First Day work: Allocate roll numbers to all students. Verify spellings of names, ensure correct initials, and update ID numbers in the attendance register. Facilitate the introduction of new students to the class. Explain and establish Class Essential Agreements with all students. Implement a rotational seating arrangement. Issue the school diary to students as and when received. Arrange a campus tour for new admissions, coordinated by the Sports Team or PYP Head. Label and organise student cubbies. Complete SLC group allocation within the first week. Attach the Day 1 circular in the student diary and follow up on required documentation (information sheet, spare dress, passport-size photographs, pending uniforms, etc.). Assign a buddy to each new student to ensure smooth integration. Initiate collection of essential student information, including food preferences, language choices, allergies, bus route details, and sibling information. Display the consolidated list on the teacher’s board within two days. Daily Work Mark attendance in the physical register and update online attendance through the school app before 9:30 a.m. without exception. Introduce new students to the class whenever admissions take place. Update the class whiteboard daily with the date, day, motivational quote, student strength, agenda for the day, and homework notification column. Ensure proper maintenance of class cupboards and display boards. Check that all students wear their ID cards. Ensure the workstation is cleared before the commencement of the next class (strictly to be followed). Conduct a daily check of students’ uniforms and oral hygiene. Acknowledge diary notes and communicate necessary information to parents. Assign and monitor student roles such as Class Monitor, Board Monitor, Cupboard Monitor, Equipment Monitor, etc. Ensure the safety and proper use of classroom property. Students must not scratch or write on tables, chairs, or walls. Check homework daily, record homework defaulters, and communicate the same to the Grade Representative. Maintain the updated list and timetable of SEN students. Maintain anecdotal records regularly. Collect and record cheques/cash (if any) and submit them to the PYP Head. Share updates for Facebook as and when class activities or field trips take place. Send corrected Math notebooks home daily. Respond promptly to all parent queries received through diaries. All notes and concerns must be addressed, including medication notes or requests for homework extensions. Ensure students line up whenever moving out of the classroom to maintain discipline. This must be strictly followed by all PYP teachers. During dispersal, ensure students line up route-wise at 2:55 p.m. before the hooter is blown. Dispersal will take place grade-wise from KG to Grade 5 as per the new classroom allocation. Ensure all classroom furniture is properly arranged by students and teachers before leaving the classroom (strict compliance required). Permit only one student at a time to use the washroom. This must be strictly monitored by all teachers. Access and review the school app and website at least once a day for updates and communication. Weekly Work: Prepare and submit the Week Planner, Weekly Assessments, and assessment scores to the Coordinator. Ensure systematic maintenance of all assessment records. Prepare and maintain the agenda for the weekly collaborative meeting for your respective grade every Wednesday. Update the Minutes of the Meeting (MoM) in the common storage folder (responsibility of Grade Leads). Ensure that all Grade Leads share the meeting agenda with the Coordinator prior to the scheduled meeting. Send UOI (Unit of Inquiry) notebooks home every Friday. Ensure that students exchange library books once a week and maintain a record of the same. Monthly Work: Submit the completed attendance register to the Coordinator on the last working day of every month without exception. Provide the Monthly Update to the Coordinator on the last Monday of each month. Prepare and submit the Monthly PYP Newsletter, including two Teacher Reflections and two Student Reflections based on classroom activities or significant learning experiences. Complete Boxes 6, 7, 8, and 9 of the Planner after the conclusion of each Unit of Inquiry, following discussion and alignment across all sections. Ensure that the Evidence File and e-Portfolio are updated and completed within one week of the completion of each inquiry. Finalise and freeze the drama script within the first month to allow adequate time for structured practice and preparation. General Instructions for Home Room Teachers Maintain a positive classroom environment and ensure discipline at all times. Groom students to greet all teachers appropriately (“Good Morning” / “Good Afternoon”) while moving around the campus, including corridors and dining areas. Monitor students’ personal hygiene daily (hair, nails, uniform, shoes, etc.). Encourage and ensure that students communicate in English at all times within the campus. Begin each day with a brief two-minute discussion on a moral value. Display a moral quote on the whiteboard daily. Keep the Coordinator informed of any concerns regarding academics, parents, or students in a timely manner. Home Room Teachers: Soft Board Checklist The following boards and displays are mandatory: Annual Board depicting Attitudes, Skills, Learner Profile, Concepts, and Themes. Inquiry Cycle Board. Teacher’s Corner displaying all relevant class details (Time Table, Student Details, Contact Numbers, Bus Routes, Food Preferences – Veg/Non-Veg, ID Numbers, Badge Holder Names, Multiple Intelligences, De Bono’s Thinking Hats, etc.). Badge Holder Names (Zeus, Apollo, Hygiea, Iris, Pygmalion). News Corner (with pockets/folders or pinned updates). Child Essential Agreement. Language Board (Hindi/Tamil). Word Wall, Wonder Wall, and Math Wall/Board. Pod Area Boards (outside the classroom) to be updated with student work or details of interschool visits. These must be collectively maintained by all homeroom teachers, with Grade Leads serving as overall in-charge. Instructions for Designing the Boards Use innovative and creative presentation ideas aligned with the theme and Central Idea. Ensure there are no spelling or grammatical errors. Maintain well-defined and neat borders. Display boards should be creative, visually appealing, and age-appropriate. Showcase students’ explanations, observable skills, and behavioural attributes clearly. Ensure displays are uncluttered, readable, and neatly presented.
