Job description
Producer About Us Liquidnitro Games is a game development company built to create, launch, and scale ambitious games for a global audience. Founded by industry veterans with deep experience across free-to-play, live services, and large-scale game production agnostic of platforms, we bring together product thinking, design craft, engineering depth, art execution, data, and live operations under one roof. We build games from the ground up, take new ideas from 0 to 1, and work with select partners to strengthen, scale, and operate high-quality game experiences. Our teams combine creative ownership with production discipline, helping projects move from early prototypes to validated products, and from launch to long-term growth. At Liquidnitro, we are building the next generation of game teams, products, and tools from India for the global games industry. The Role We are looking for a Game Director to lead the creation of a new 0→1 mobile, free-to-play roguelite connected to an established IP. This is not a project management role centred on schedules, timelines, task tracking, or delivery coordination. The Game Director owns what game gets built and why: its vision, player experience, creative direction, product strategy, relationship with the IP, commercial potential, and evolution from concept through launch and live operations. You will work at the intersection of art and science, combining creative instinct, player empathy, design judgment, market understanding, data, technology, and business thinking. You will determine what the game should become, identify the most important questions the team must solve, and make the decisions required to move the product forward. You will lead Design, Product, Art, Engineering, UX, Data, QA, Production, and Project Management around a coherent game vision. Project Management will support planning and execution, while you remain accountable for product direction, creative quality, player outcomes, and the overall success of the game. You will also serve as the primary creative and product interface with the IP holders. You will translate the IP into a compelling standalone game experience, build alignment between stakeholders, navigate competing priorities, resolve creative and product deadlocks, and ensure that decisions serve both the integrity of the IP and the needs of the game. Responsibilities Game Vision and Direction Own and articulate the overall vision for the game, including its player fantasy, creative identity, product pillars, target audience, and long-term potential. Define what makes the game differentiated, compelling, and worthy of players’ time in a competitive mobile market. Ensure that gameplay, progression, art, UX, narrative, economy, monetization, content, and live systems come together as one coherent experience. Make clear decisions about what belongs in the game, what does not, and where the team should focus its effort. Protect the game from feature accumulation, fragmented thinking, and decisions that weaken its core identity. Continuously assess whether the game being built matches the original intent and whether that intent remains the right one. Product and Creative Leadership Lead the project from concept and prototyping through production, validation, launch, and long-term growth. Partner with Design leadership to shape the core loop, run structure, combat, build variety, progression, rewards, difficulty, content, and replayability. Partner with Art and UX leadership to define the game’s visual identity, readability, emotional tone, usability, and presentation quality. Partner with Engineering to ensure that the product vision is technically achievable, scalable, performant, and suitable for continuous iteration. Partner with Product and Data teams to define the game’s engagement, retention, monetization, and growth hypotheses. Balance creative ambition with player needs, production realities, market conditions, and commercial sustainability. Establish and maintain a high quality bar across every aspect of the player experience. Finding and Validating the Fun Identify the most important assumptions behind the game and determine how the team should test them. Drive rapid prototyping and iteration to find the core fun before scaling content and production. Define what each prototype, build, playtest, or milestone is intended to prove. Regularly play the game and evaluate gameplay feel, clarity, pacing, challenge, variety, progression, rewards, usability, and player motivation. Lead internal reviews, playtests, and product discussions with clear hypotheses and decision criteria. Use player research, gameplay data, market references, and creative judgment to decide what should change and why. Distinguish between surface-level feedback, execution problems, and fundamental product risks. Know when the team should continue exploring, when it should converge, and when an idea should be stopped. Player and Market Understanding Develop a deep understanding of the target audience, their motivations, habits, expectations, and unmet needs. Study relevant mobile, free-to-play, rogue-lite, action, RPG, survival, and progression-driven games. Understand the market without reducing the product to a collection of competitor features. Identify opportunities for the game to stand apart through its fantasy, mechanics, progression, content, presentation, or operating model. Translate player behavior and market signals into clear product choices. Ensure that data informs decisions without replacing creative conviction and product judgment. Build a strong point of view on who the game is for, why they will play, why they will return, and why they may choose to spend. Free-to-Play Product Strategy Own the relationship between the core game, run-based progression, permanent progression, economy, rewards, monetization, and long-term engagement. Ensure that progression and monetization systems strengthen the player experience rather than compete with it. Define how players build mastery, express choice, pursue goals, and experience meaningful progression across sessions and runs. Partner with Design and Product teams on retention systems, economy structure, reward pacing, content cadence, events, offers, and live operations. Evaluate the balance between accessibility, depth, challenge, replayability, and commercial viability. Ensure that the game is built with strong foundations for experimentation, content expansion, balancing, and post-launch evolution. Define the product questions and success criteria that must be answered before soft launch, global launch, and further investment. Cross-Functional Game Leadership Align Design, Product, Art, Engineering, UX, QA, Data, Production, and Project Management around the same game vision and player outcomes. Give each discipline the context required to make strong decisions within its area of expertise. Resolve conflicting priorities and interpretations across disciplines. Facilitate difficult creative and product decisions, ensuring that discussion leads to clear direction. Create an environment where ideas can be challenged constructively without losing momentum or ownership. Hold teams accountable to the intended player experience, not only to functional completion. Support discipline leaders in maintaining quality while making responsible decisions about scope and complexity. Lead through clarity, judgment, credibility, and the quality of decisions rather than through process alone. Scope, Priorities, and Investment Decisions Determine what the team needs to build now, what can wait, and what should not be built. Prioritize work based on player value, product risk, learning value, development cost, and strategic importance. Make informed trade-offs across creative ambition, quality, time, technology, team capacity, and commercial objectives. Partner with Project Management and discipline leads to translate product priorities into executable plans and milestones. Ensure that development milestones are designed around product outcomes and learning goals, not only feature delivery. Identify when a product direction, feature, or system is not producing sufficient value and take corrective action. Provide leadership with a clear view of the game’s progress, potential, risks, and investment requirements. Quality and Launch Readiness Own the overall quality and coherence of the game alongside discipline leadership. Define what good looks like at prototype, vertical slice, production, soft launch, and global launch stages. Ensure that gameplay, visuals, UX, performance, stability, progression, balance, and content meet the intended quality bar. Prevent individually successful features from creating a fragmented or confusing overall experience. Lead product reviews and launch-readiness discussions using both player evidence and expert judgment. Ensure that the game is not advanced to the next stage simply because work has been completed. Make recommendations on whether the product should progress, change direction, require further validation, or stop. Required Skills 8+ years of professional experience in game production, product leadership, game design leadership, or a comparable game development role. Credit on multiple shipped games, with meaningful ownership of a game, major product area, or large cross-functional development initiative. Experience influencing or owning the creative, product, and commercial direction of a game. Experience working on mobile, free-to-play, action, RPG, roguelike, rogue-lite, shooter, survival, or progression-heavy games. Strong understanding of game design, player motivation, progression, rewards, difficulty, pacing, content, economy, retention, monetization, and live operations. Strong product judgment and the ability to evaluate whether a game is fun, understandable, differentiated, scalable, and commercially viable. Ability to combine qualitative player understanding, quantitative data, market insight, and creative judgment. Experience taking a game or major product area through concept, prototyping, production, testing, launch, or live operation. Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across Design, Art, Engineering, UX, Product, QA, Data, and Production. Ability to create clarity and direction in ambiguous, early-stage development environments. Ability to make difficult product and creative decisions using incomplete information. Strong understanding of mobile free-to-play product development, including retention, economy, monetization, content cadence, and player behavior. Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to communicate a compelling vision while remaining open to evidence that challenges existing assumptions. A hands-on approach, including frequent build reviews, playtesting, feature evaluation, and direct engagement with development teams. Strong ownership and accountability for the final player and business outcomes of the game. Preferred Skills Experience leading a new game or new IP from 0→1. Strong understanding of rogue-like/rogue-lite design, including run structure, build variety, upgrade choices, challenge, replayability, and progression across runs. Experience launching or operating a successful mobile free-to-play game. Experience with soft launch, market testing, regional testing, product validation, or investment gates. Experience working with live events, battle passes, content cadence, economy tuning, offers, experimentation, and post-launch feature development. Strong understanding of analytics, funnels, cohorts, A/B testing, segmentation, and game KPIs. Experience working with Unity development teams. Experience managing external partners, licensors, publishers, or distributed development teams. Familiarity with AI-assisted workflows for ideation, analysis, prototyping, production, content development, and live operations. Location This is an on-site role based in Hyderabad.
