Job description
Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide firefighting services to protect lives and property
Operate and maintain firefighting equipment, apparatus, and vehicles in accordance with departmental standards
Conduct thorough inspections of fire equipment and safety systems to ensure operational readiness
Perform rescue operations and provide emergency medical assistance when required
Participate in hazardous materials (HAZMAT) response and containment procedures
Maintain detailed incident reports and documentation of emergency responses
Provide fire safety education and prevention programs to the community
Train and mentor junior firefighters and new personnel on protocols and best practices
Conduct regular drills and training exercises to maintain team proficiency and readiness
Ensure compliance with all fire safety codes, regulations, and departmental policies
Perform routine station maintenance and housekeeping duties
Participate in community outreach and public relations activities
Respond to non-emergency calls including welfare checks and public assistance requests
Collaborate with other emergency services and agencies during multi-agency incidents
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Firefighter I and II certification (or ability to obtain within the specified timeframe)
EMT-Basic certification or higher
Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation and medical examination
Physical fitness to meet departmental standards and pass fitness assessments
Valid CPR certification from an accredited organization
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
