Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Planning & Execution
Plan, schedule, and supervise preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
Ensure availability and reliability of critical equipment (e.g., rolling mills, furnaces, conveyors, cranes, compressors).
Implement condition monitoring systems (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.)
- Equipment Reliability & Performance
Improve equipment uptime and reduce failure rates.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of major breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
Develop and track KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and equipment availability
- Team Management
Lead and manage a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
Assign responsibilities and monitor performance.
Provide technical guidance and conduct training programs.
- Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to safety standards, SOPs, and statutory regulations.
Promote a strong safety culture and zero-accident workplace.
Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
- Cost Control & Budgeting
Prepare and manage maintenance budgets.
Optimize maintenance costs without compromising reliability.
Monitor inventory and ensure availability of spares.
- Shutdown Management
Plan and execute annual/quarterly plant shutdowns.
Coordinate with production, electrical, and other departments.
Ensure timely completion within budget.
- Vendor & Contract Management
Manage external vendors, contractors, and service providers.
Evaluate vendor performance and control service quality.
Negotiate contracts and service agreements.
- Continuous Improvement
Implement TPM, Lean, 5S, and other improvement initiatives.
Drive digitalization and automation in maintenance processes.
Identify opportunities for process optimization.
Spares optimization (slow/non-moving reduction)
Qualifications
- B.E / B.Tech – Mechanical / Electrical
2.15–18 years in steel / mining / cement / power industries
Competencies Required
- Strong problem-solving & RCA skills
- Expertise in fixed plant maintenance
- Hands-on exposure to fabrication, welding, and industrial systems
- Strong leadership and decision-making ability
- Data-driven approach (MTBF, MTTR, OEE)
