Engineering Manager (M6)
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers delivering high-quality services on a stack that includes Java, Spring Boot, Python (NumPy), REST APIs, Flask APIs, and Azure.
Responsibilities
Manage a team of engineers, often including early-career professionals; coordinate resources and set short-term priorities to meet operational objectives
Set performance and productivity expectations; coach team members on performance, growth, and career development
Ensure the team’s integration with related areas to deliver programs, services, and results
Apply business practices and methods within the engineering discipline; make decisions that improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of your own team and related teams, guided by policies, procedures, and cascaded goals
Identify, anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day functional, technical, operational, and service problems; establish new techniques where needed to ensure the team meets its objectives
Provide technical direction on services built with Java, Spring Boot, Python (NumPy), REST/Flask APIs, and Azure; guide design and code review practices
Own delivery commitments: sprint planning, PI planning participation, estimation quality, and predictability
Drive engineering quality: CI/CD maturity, quality gates, unit and integration test coverage, and DevSecOps practices (SAST, DAST, secrets management)
Manage production health for owned services: monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and PMO to align team roadmap with business priorities
Explain information to team members, internal clients, and peers; convey performance expectations and handle complex, sensitive issues with professionalism
Foster adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools across the team’s SDLC
8- 12 years of relevant software engineering experience, including 1+ years of people management or formal team leadership experience
Strong hands-on background in Java, Spring Boot, and Python, with working knowledge of NumPy-based data processing
Solid understanding of REST API design and API service ecosystems, including Flask-based services
Experience delivering and operating applications on Azure with Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases, messaging/queuing, and caching
Working knowledge of DevSecOps pipelines, quality gates, and security tooling
Demonstrated ability to coach engineers, manage performance, and grow talent
Experience in Agile/SAFe delivery environments, including sprint and PI planning
Strong communication skills and the ability to handle complex, sensitive issues
Excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgment under delivery pressure
