SAP S/4HANA Defense & Security Functional Lead - SME

Job Description

CSCI Consulting is looking for a SAP S/4HANA Defense & Security Functional Lead / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support our Department of War client. In this role, the consultant will provide functional leadership for a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation effort, supporting business process modernization, Fit-to-Standard (F2S) workshops, solution design, configuration, integration, testing, deployment, and organizational change across complex defense and national security operations.

Serve as the SAP Defense & Security Functional Lead and trusted advisor to client stakeholders, program leadership, and implementation teams

Lead SAP Fit-to-Standard (F2S) workshops and facilitate business process transformation discussions

Analyze current-state business processes and develop future-state SAP S/4HANA solutions aligned with mission requirements

Perform fit/gap assessments and recommend SAP standard capabilities, clean-core approaches, and best practices

Translate complex business requirements into SAP functional designs, configuration requirements, and implementation roadmaps

Provide functional leadership across solution architecture, configuration, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities

Support cross-functional integration across SAP business processes and modules

Develop functional specifications, business process documentation, configuration documentation, and solution design artifacts

Support RICEFW/WRICEF requirements, custom enhancements, reports, interfaces, conversions, forms, and workflows

Coordinate with solution architects, functional consultants, developers, integration teams, and cybersecurity teams

Support data migration, conversion, validation, and reconciliation activities

Lead and support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and defect resolution efforts

Provide guidance on SAP S/4HANA implementation methodologies, governance processes, and release management activities

Support Agile project delivery activities, including planning sessions, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and stakeholder demonstrations

Provide mentorship and functional leadership to junior consultants and project team members

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be substituted

10+ years of SAP ERP functional consulting experience

5+ years of SAP S/4HANA experience

Experience serving as an SAP Functional Lead, Senior Functional Consultant, or Subject Matter Expert

Experience supporting at least one large-scale SAP S/4HANA implementation or ERP modernization initiative

Experience leading SAP Fit-to-Standard workshops and business process transformation efforts

Experience performing fit/gap analysis and developing future-state business processes

Experience translating complex business requirements into SAP functional solutions

Experience developing SAP functional specifications and solution documentation

Strong understanding of SAP end-to-end business processes and cross-module integration

Experience supporting RICEFW/WRICEF requirements and functional design activities

Experience supporting integrations, interfaces, data migration, and conversion activities

Experience supporting System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong facilitation and stakeholder-management capabilities

Ability to obtain and maintain the security clearance required by the program

U.S. Citizenship required where mandated by the applicable government contract

Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving

Ability to work with clients to understand their needs

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Deep functional expertise within SAP Defense & Security business processes

Department of War or Federal ERP modernization experience

SAP S/4HANA certification in a relevant functional area

Experience with SAP Activate implementation methodology

Experience with SAP Signavio process transformation tools

Experience with SAP Fiori applications and user experience design

Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)

Experience with SAP Integration Suite.

Understanding of SAP clean-core principles and extensibility strategies

Experience supporting Agile and/or SAFe delivery frameworks

Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, SAP ALM, or similar enterprise lifecycle management tools

Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

Experience supporting Model-Driven Design and Implementation (MDDI) initiatives

Experience with SysML, enterprise architecture, or requirements modeling tools

Experience with Mendix or other enterprise low-code platforms

Experience working within large system integrator or enterprise transformation environments

Active DoD Secret clearance or higher

Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently

Strong customer and vendor relationship skills

Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies

Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value

Past experience working with a Federal government agency

Department of War experience is a plus!
