Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with strong expertise in industrial valve automation, actuator selection, control-system integration, and project execution. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience engineering automation packages for ball, plug, butterfly, gate, globe, check, and severe-service valves.
This role requires technical proficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, and electric actuation systems, along with the ability to manage projects from customer specification review through engineering, assembly, testing, inspection, dispatch, and site commissioning support
Key Responsibilities
Valve Automation Engineering
Engineer and execute valve automation systems based on schematic drawings and customer requirements.
Develop automation solutions for: Ball valves
Plug valves
Butterfly valves
Gate, globe, and check valves
Severe-service valves
Select, size, and integrate: Pneumatic actuators
Hydraulic actuators
Electro-hydraulic systems
Electric actuators
Manual gear operators
Ensure appropriate actuator sizing, torque selection, fail-safe configuration, and operational suitability.
Automation Package Development
Design and develop complete valve automation packages incorporating: Solenoid valves
Limit switches
Position transmitters
Positioners
Air filter regulators
Tubing layouts
Control panels
Review customer specifications, datasheets, P&IDs, and project requirements.
Ensure package compliance with hazardous-area classifications, SIL requirements, and applicable customer standards.
Prepare and review automation documentation, including GA drawings, hook-up drawings, pneumatic/hydraulic schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, test procedures, and technical submittals.
Project Execution & Coordination
Coordinate end-to-end automation project execution from engineering through dispatch.
Work closely with Design, Production, QA/QC, Procurement, Assembly, and Testing teams.
Monitor engineering schedules, technical compliance, material availability, and customer deliverables.
Support Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, customer inspections, and pre-dispatch activities.
Provide technical clarifications to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Testing & Troubleshooting
Supervise actuator assembly, calibration, functional testing, and final inspection.
Troubleshoot issues related to: Actuator performance
Air leakage
Positioning accuracy
Torque mismatch
Control-signal integration
ESD and fail-safe operation
Ensure automation packages meet functional, safety, and performance requirements before dispatch.
Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites when required.
Continuous Improvement
Develop and maintain standardization for automation packages, component selection, and engineering practices.
Identify opportunities to improve package reliability, cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
Support valve automation upgrades, digitalization initiatives, and advanced control-system solutions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering/Electrical & Electronics Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics Engineering
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in industrial valve automation.
Experience in valve manufacturing, EPC projects, or process-industry automation is highly preferred.
Mandatory Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuator systems.
Experience in actuator selection, sizing, assembly, and integration for industrial valves.
Good understanding of instrumentation and control systems.
Knowledge of API and IEC standards.
Understanding of SIL concepts and hazardous-area requirements.
Familiarity with PLC/DCS integration and industrial communication protocols such as Modbus and Profibus.
Knowledge of control-valve accessories and automation components.
Ability to interpret: P&IDs
