DATA ANALYST II | ACORNS

Acorns is seeking a Data Analyst II for Marketing Analytics to act as an experimentation lead and strategic partner for Marketing. In this role, you will drive Acorns' marketing measurement roadmap—spanning experimentation, forecasting, and incrementality testing—partnering with Marketing leaders during planning to define what gets tested, in what order, and with what success criteria. As an individual contributor, you will drive statistical rigor, mentor fellow analysts, and translate marketing measurement insights into long-term budget and channel decisions.

Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.

WHAT YOU WILL DO AT ACORNS:

  • Drive the Marketing Measurement Roadmap: Help lead the marketing analytics strategy across experimentation, forecasting, and incrementality testing, partnering with Marketing and 3rd party agencies during planning to define test scope, prioritization, and success metrics before they're formally established.
  • Drive Geo Holdout & Incrementality Testing End-to-End: Design and run geo holdout tests and other incrementality methodologies to measure true marketing lift, isolating channel and campaign impact from baseline demand.
  • Collaborate with Data Science to maintain up-to-date priors and data inputs for the MMM, ensuring accurate and actionable outputs
  • Champion Statistical & Experimentation Rigor: Oversee end-to-end marketing experimentation strategy, setting standards for sample sizes, statistical power, confidence intervals, test design, and post-experiment analysis.
  • Build & Maintain Marketing Forecasts: Develop forecasting models for marketing performance and spend efficiency, incorporating seasonality, channel saturation, and macro trends to inform budget allocation decisions.
  • Uncover Proactive Insights: Query large-scale data platforms like Databricks and BigQuery alongside marketing and media data sources to identify channel inefficiencies, investigate anomalies, and bring strategic hypotheses to cross-functional partners.
  • Scale Capabilities with AI & Automation: Utilize AI tools and agent-based workflows to streamline data extraction, automate repetitive analyses, and accelerate engineering and analytical throughput.
  • Provide Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior and mid-level analysts, elevating analytical rigor, conducting code reviews, and fostering a strong data culture.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO ACORNS:

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing analytics, media measurement, or a related field, with a proven track record of driving strategic marketing decisions.
  • Required: hands-on experience designing and running geo holdout tests or comparable geo-based incrementality methodologies.
  • Experience building marketing forecasting models (e.g., spend/response, MMM, or channel-level forecasting).
  • Deep expertise in experimentation methodology, A/B testing, hypothesis testing, sample estimation, and statistical power analysis, applied to marketing contexts.
  • Advanced proficiency in writing SQL and Python within cloud data environments like Databricks and BigQuery.
  • Hands-on experience with marketing measurement tools and platforms (e.g., MMM/incrementality platforms, ad platform reporting such as Google/Meta, or similar).
  • Strong intuition for marketing and customer psychology, specifically around how channel and campaign decisions impact acquisition and retention.
  • High autonomy and project management skill, with a history of driving unstructured, complex analytics projects from discovery through implementation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to formal mentorship and technical leadership, upleveling peers through shared frameworks and best practices.
  • Hunger to deliver game-changing products.
  • Exceptional drive and precision in delivery.
  • A belief that your work is tied to your life's mission.
  • Optimistic about the potential of societal change.

You are not expected to have experience with all listed requirements. If you feel passionate about Acorns' mission, vision, and values, please apply.
