Staff Backend Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer based in India.

This is a high-impact technical leadership role focused on solving complex backend and platform challenges at significant scale. You’ll shape architecture across teams, lead large cross-functional initiatives, and establish engineering standards that improve speed, reliability, security, and maintainability. You’ll help modernize large-scale backend systems into modular, reusable architectures while avoiding unnecessary complexity and fragmentation. The role combines deep systems expertise with strong product judgment and the ability to influence without formal authority. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure, Security, Data, and Engineering leadership. You’ll also help drive the responsible adoption of AI-assisted and agentic engineering workflows across engineering teams.
