Role Summary The Desktop Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and supporting all end-user hardware, operating systems, and basic network infrastructure. This role emphasizes hands-on hardware management, asset tracking, and system health monitoring to ensure operational efficiency and compliance. Key Responsibilities Hardware & System Maintenance · Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and IP phones · Perform regular health checks on hardware components (CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, cooling systems) · Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, including power issues, overheating, and peripheral malfunctions · Replace or upgrade components (RAM, hard drives, power supplies, etc.) as needed · Maintain physical cable management and ensure proper LAN/Wi-Fi connectivity · Coordinate with vendors for warranty claims, replacements, and procurement Inventory & Asset Management · Maintain detailed records of all IT hardware assets including serial numbers, warranty status, and location · Track movement of devices across departments and sites (Prince & Fayola offices) · Update asset inventory tools and prepare reports for audits and compliance · Label and tag all devices with asset IDs and maintain documentation for rentals and purchases OS & Networking Support · Install and update Windows OS (10/11), drivers, and firmware · Configure basic network settings (IP, DNS, gateway) and troubleshoot connectivity issues · Support basic Active Directory tasks (user creation, password resets, group assignments) · Assist in System, VPN setup and endpoint readiness for WFH users Documentation & Reporting · Maintain logs of hardware issues, resolutions, and preventive actions · Document installation procedures, asset handovers, and configuration changes Requirements Required Skills & Qualifications Education Diploma or Degree Experience 1–3 years in desktop support or hardware maintenance Technical Skills Windows OS, basic networking, AD fundamentals, hardware diagnostics Tools Knowledge Asset tracking tools, ticketing systems, remote support platforms Certifications (Preferred) CompTIA A+, MCP, ITIL Foundation Soft Skills Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, good communication skills
