Principal Infrastructure Engineer - Cloud Operations Engineer

Value Proposition

The Cloud Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting the operational stability, reliability, and continuous improvement of enterprise public cloud environments across AWS and Azure. This role serves as a key member of the Public Cloud Operations team and is responsible for monitoring cloud services, managing incidents, supporting production operations, maintaining compliance and governance controls, executing recovery and resiliency activities, and driving operational excellence through automation and continuous improvement.

The individual will work closely with Cloud Engineering, Enterprise Monitoring, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Services, and Application Support teams to ensure cloud platforms remain secure, compliant, highly available, and operationally efficient. The role requires hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, Dynatrace, Splunk, Terraform, Terraform (IaaC) , ServiceNow, and automation tooling, while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience, platform reliability, and operational effectiveness.

About the Team

The Public Cloud Operations team provides 24*7 operational support for AWS and Azure cloud platforms, focusing on monitoring, incident management, production support, governance, automation, service health, and platform reliability. Enterprise OpenShift and Kubernetes platforms, focusing on platform administration, cluster reliability, automation, security, monitoring, incident management, and production support. The team partners closely with Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Monitoring, Infrastructure Services, and Application Support teams to deliver secure, stable and resilient cloud services across the enterprise

Key Deliverables

Monitoring & Incident Management

Monitor cloud environments using Dynatrace, Splunk, CloudWatch, and Azure Monitor

Perform incident triage, troubleshooting, and resolution activities

Manage ServiceNow incidents and operational escalations

Support Major Incident Management activities

Cloud Operations & Production Support

Provide day-to-day operational support for AWS and Azure cloud platforms.

Execute operational procedures, recovery activities, and runbooks.

Monitor platform health, availability, and reliability.

Support production changes and operational readiness activities

OpenShift Platform Administration

Install, configure, administer, and support Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters

Perform cluster lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, maintenance, and capacity planning

Monitor cluster health, performance, and resource utilization

Manage OpenShift components including: Worker Nodes, Control Plane Nodes, Operators, Ingress Controllers, Routes, Projects/Namespaces, Persistent Storage

Kubernetes Administration

Support Kubernetes workloads running on OpenShift clusters.

Configure and manage deployments, services, ingress, networking, and storage.

Monitor containerized applications and platform services.

Analyze and resolve pod, node, networking, and storage issues.

Implement workload optimization and resource management best practices.

Governance & Compliance

Monitor compliance posture and cloud governance controls

Track remediation activities and compliance findings

Support audit activities and operational reporting

Review tagging compliance and cloud resource governance standards

Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery

Monitor backup and recovery operations

Perform restore validation testing

Support disaster recovery exercises and readiness activities

Maintain backup and recovery documentation

Patch Management & Resource Hygiene

Coordinate patching activities and compliance reporting

Track vulnerability remediation efforts

Maintain cloud resource hygiene and tagging compliance

Support cloud cost optimization and governance initiatives

Automation & Tooling

Develop and maintain operational automation using PowerShell and Python

Support Dynatrace monitoring enhancements and alert tuning

Automate operational reporting and repetitive support activities

Maintain ServiceNow workflow automations and integrations

Skills and Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, with 10+ years of experience in Cloud Operations, Infrastructure Operations, Production Support, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Enterprise Technology Services.

Required Experience

Experience supporting AWS and Azure cloud environments

Experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, and enterprise monitoring platforms

Experience with ServiceNow Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes

Experience performing production support and operational troubleshooting

Experience with cloud governance, compliance, and operational reporting

Working knowledge of PowerShell, Python, or scripting technologies

Preferred Certifications

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

AWS Solutions Architect Associate

Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

ITIL Foundation Certification

Dynatrace Associate Certification

Splunk Core User Certification
