Duties:
Financial planning & analysis:
Gather and organize financial data to provide detailed analysis on variances
Prepare financial reports with reliable conclusions that management can use to implement more effective operational strategies
Investigate and provide analysis for monthly revenue changes and expenditure increases/decreases
Review order intake, backlog, revenue phasing and reporting accuracy in partnership with Sales, Programs and Operations.
Perform profitability analysis by product, program, customer, service line and revenue type, as relevant to the India business.
Budgeting & forecasting:
Work with Budget Owners to get an understanding of performance
Support Annual Budget and Quarterly Forecast activities by providing variance commentaries and analysis, and reporting
Target areas of expense overruns/inconsistencies and implement corrective measures
Perform monthly analysis on variances between Actuals and Budgets/Forecast/Prior Year
Support annual strategic planning and budgeting processes including setting operational & financial targets. Act as trusted advisor to the regional and local management on all finance related matters
Commercial business partner support:
Support market bids, financials preparation, benchmark and challenge costs/margins
Work with Sales head to prepare financial forecasts & budgets for India market
Support sales bid process by providing financial analysis with attention to cash-flow analysis and local tax requirements
Support commercial decision making and manage performance against budget/forecasts through analysis and being the go-to person for financial matters relating to the market.
Program support:
Partner with Program Managers and functional leaders to provide timely financial insight and challenge
Provide programs’ profitability analysis on entity margin (external selling price less transfer price) and transparent gross margin (external selling price less manufacturing and local costs)
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for program
Review Programs-related Balance sheet to ensure accuracy, existence and completeness.
Ensure consistent use and appropriate application of the global chart of accounts and accounting principles and policies Budgetary
Lead budget variance commentary and reporting
Track and advise on profitability variances from approved DORBs
Provide accurate cash-flow forecasting and monitor actual cash-flow relating to programs
Monitor FX impact on Programs, assessing hedging effectiveness as required
Others:
Continuous improvement : Identify areas for improvement in financial analysis, forecasting and commercial support. Identify opportunities to streamline, automate or digitise reporting, and reduce manual work. To increase the analytical capability of the Finance teams to ensure accuracy of the P&L and Balance sheet, specifically on program-related GIT and WIP balances.
Communication: Maintain open and clear lines of communications. Maintain effective communication with stakeholders within India, as well as key stakeholders in the Division.
Qualifications and Experience
Chartered accountant, MBA Finance or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
Typically 4-7 years of relevant experience in FP&A, commercial finance, business partnering or management reporting, preferably in a multinational environment.
Experience working in a multi-currency and matrix organisation is advantageous.
Experience supporting project, service, technology, industrial or manufacturing businesses is advantageous.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced or Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, PPT and Word
Advanced knowledge of software features such as SAP, Smartview/Onyx/CPM
Understand basic accounting procedures like journal entry creation (including preparation of supporting documents) and review and running basic reports
Understanding different components of Chart of Accounts (CoA)
Understand basic accounting principles and concepts and ability to apply them
Understand basic concepts of budgeting and planning
Able to manipulate data in Excel; able to identify arithmetical mistakes
Maintain, reconcile, review, combine and validate moderately complex financial data sets
Identify, clarify, investigate discrepancies and exceptions
Resolve transactional inquiries, escalate broader issues
Run and analyse standard financial reports, often from multiple systems/sources
Design and perform analyses, incorporating checks and balances to ensure data integrity
Actively communicate and engage with colleagues to further clarify ambiguity
