Actuarial Software Engineer II Insurance | Actuarial Engineering | .NET Position Summary The Actuarial Software Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining actuarial calculation software within modern, scalable .NET-based systems. This role blends actuarial logic, strong software engineering practices, and an understanding of insurance products to build accurate, performant, and maintainable calculation engines and APIs used across sales and illustration platforms. The engineer will work closely with actuarial, engineering, and product teams in India and the US to deliver high-quality, compliant insurance solutions. Deliverables and Performance Measures Design, develop, and maintain actuarial calculation modules using C# and .NET . Translate actuarial specifications, rate tables, and Excel-based models into robust, testable software components. Build and enhance APIs and calculation services used by illustration and quoting platforms. Ensure actuarial calculations are accurate, performant, auditable, and maintainable . Apply object-oriented design principles and industry best practices. Write unit tests and support automated testing to ensure calculation integrity. Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve calculation and system issues efficiently. Collaborate closely with actuarial, product, QA, and engineering teams. Produce and maintain clear technical and actuarial documentation. Provide accurate estimates and take ownership of assigned deliverables. Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement activities. What Will Make You Successful 3+ years of professional software development experience. Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem . Experience with ASP.NET / .NET Core , Web APIs, and service-oriented architecture. Solid understanding of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and design patterns . Experience with SQL databases (SQL Server preferred), including: Query optimization Data modeling Performance considerations Ability to interpret and validate financial and actuarial calculations . Hands-on experience with Excel for understanding and validating calculation logic. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development . Experience using Git / Azure DevOps , JIRA, or similar tools. Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to bridge actuarial logic and software engineering. High ownership and accountability for assigned work. Comfort working in distributed India–US teams. Strong attention to detail, especially around financial accuracy. Willingness to continuously learn insurance domain knowledge and modern engineering practices. Preferred / Nice to Have Experience building or supporting insurance illustration or actuarial systems . Exposure to annuity, life insurance, or retirement products . Experience with Entity Framework or similar ORMs . Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines . Familiarity with performance optimization techniques (caching, async processing). Basic understanding of application security and data protection best practices.
